Taper shank gear shaper cutter operation
In order to generate the back angle and not affect the tooth profile of the processed gear after regrinding, the shape of the modified gear is made in each section perpendicular to the axis of the gear shaper cutter. The modification coefficient x0 gradually decreases from the front end to the rear end face and changes from positive to negative. The use of taper shank gear shaper cutter is limited.
① Limitation of gear undercutting: when the tooth top of gear shaper cutter cuts into the involute tooth profile at the root of the gear to be cut in the cutting process, it is called undercutting. The less the number of teeth of the gear to be machined, the greater the possibility of undercutting.
② Limitation of gear top cutting: top cutting refers to the phenomenon that the top of the gear to be cut enters the root tooth profile of the gear shaper cutter and is cut off. The smaller the number of teeth and displacement coefficient of the gear shaper cutter, the easier it is to produce top cutting.
③ Limitation of interference of gear transition curve: when the gear shaper cutter is cutting teeth, it cannot cut the involute tooth profile on the whole tooth surface, and there is a transition curve at the root of the gear. The less the number of teeth of the gear shaper cutter and the greater the tooth deformation coefficient, the longer the transition curve. If the tooth top of the paired gear contacts with the transition curve, interference will occur.
④ For the gear shaper cutter for machining internal gears, the restriction that the gear shaper cutter does not have top cutting in the radial cutting process should also be considered.
According to international standards, the accuracy of standard gear shaper cutter is divided into three types: AA, a and B. under normal conditions, it is used to process gears with accuracy of grade 6, 7 and 8 respectively. In order to process gears that need to be shaved or ground again, pre shaving or pre grinding gear shapers shall be used respectively to leave a certain machining allowance on the gear tooth surface. Therefore, the tooth profile of these gear shapers shall be specially designed.
